NAVEED RIAZ

Mr. Ashraf Riaz’s eldest son, Mr. Naveed Riaz (born 1947) received his early education at the German Model School and the Petaro Cadet College in Karachi. After acquiring a Masters degree in English Literature from Punjab University, he joined the family business as an apprentice in 1969. Mr. Naveed continues to work as one of the Directors of Imrooz and also co-chairs Imrooz’s Lahore office. Aside from being a visiting scholar at LUMS, Mr. Naveed has a keen interest in arts, literature and dramatics and has acted in several theatrical productions. He also conducts children story telling sessions at “Faiz Ghar’ and poetry recitals at “Hast O Nees’ in Lahore. He is a qualified pilot and holds a private pilot’s license.

ATEED RIAZ

Mr. Ateed Riaz is Mr. Ashraf Riaz’s second son (born 1951). He along with his elder brother took charge of Imrooz following the death of their father in 1974. Mr. Ateed had his early education from Karachi Grammar School and high school from St Patricks High School Karachi. Despite being a Science student and having acquired admission in the country’s prestigious NED Engineering University, Mr. Ateed instead decided to pursue a Masters degree in Liberal Arts from Karachi University. He believes in nurturing talent and investing in people and has been instrumental in institutionalizing human resource development at Imrooz. The same passion drove him to form a group of like-minded people and start The Citizen’s Foundation (http://www.tcf.org.pk/), providing quality education opportunities to low income children. Mr. Ateed is one of the Directors and Co-Chair of Imrooz. He resides in Karachi.

AMEED RIAZ

AMEED RIAZ

Mr. Ameed Riaz (born 1965) is Mr. Ashraf Riaz’s youngest son. An alumnus of Harvard Business School and the IBA Karachi, he has completed various business related programs from other prestigious institutions like the IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland and the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).

Mr. Ameed began his professional career in 1989 with handling the marketing of the family’s dairy and milk-food business, and subsequently launching a new consumer brand family. In 1992 he moved to EMI (Pakistan) Limited, the country's largest and the oldest music label, which the family had acquired. By 1995 he joined the family’s IT company, Wavetech (Pvt) Limited, and spent the next fewyears marketing Information Technology.1999 saw him shifting to the Overseas Manufacturer’s Representation and the Chemical / Industrial Raw Material Distribution business area, which he managed till 2008.

He was formally asked to takeover as the group Chief Executive of Imrooz in 2009 and is successfully leading the group businesses since then.

Mr. Ameed, in keeping with the family tradition of appreciation for music, art and literature, has been actively involved in the field of music and acting over the last 25 years. An avid reader, Mr. Ameed has been part of The Grips Theatre Pakistan for over two decades, appearing in numerous children’s plays and other productions on stage and television.

The younger generations of the Riaz family are also carrying forward the family tradition by keenly engaging with performing arts through music, film making, visual arts, organizing literary evenings and teaching and writing in more than one language.
